The world premiere of the film took place at Disney's [[El Capitan Theatre]] on Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, on September 18, 2008. From October 3 to October 16, 2008, the movie was shown as a „special engagement“ in the same theatre with a pre-movie show including appearances by the movie's two dog stars<ref>http://micechat.com/forums/industry-press-releases/105005-beverly-hills-chihuahua-el-capitan-theatre.html</ref> and a children's quiz about Disney dogs.
